Accessibility Statement

YourTotalSite is committed to making its web site accessible to all visitors. If you have any comments or suggestions for improvement, please contact us.

We have taken into consideration all of the common, as well as most of the uncommon, best practices for making a web site accessible. These practices include, but are not limited to:

  • We make sure to provide appropriate alternate text for images. Content images provide equivalent "alt" tags, and complex images include the "longdesc" attributes to help communicate the content of the images.
  • Careful consideration of color blindness with regards to visual design and color selection
  • While use of JavaScript does provide and enhanced experience, all content of our website is accessible with JavaScript disabled.
  • Careful consideration and understanding of the user experience with non-traditional browsers including text-only browsers and screen readers
  • Links include "title" attributes where the text of the link doesn't adequately describe the target of the link.
  • When possible, links are created to make sense out of context for browsers (such as JAWS, Lynx, Opera, etc.)
  • Acronyms and Abbreviations include "title" attributes to explain their meaning
  • Tables are created so that they are conveniently accessible by screen readers and communicate the information in an equivalently easy to understand method

Disclaimer

While we have made considerable effort to achieve perfection with regards to accessibility and standards compliance, you will notice that our efforts are occassionally thwarted by ASP.Net.

The problem is that ASP.Net 1.1 does not output valid and accessible XHTML without serious modification, and the workarounds to correct this are rather complex and less than perfect. As such, we know that some pages will not validate.

That being said, ASP.Net 2.0, which will output valid XHTML, will be out in early 2005 and we will upgrade as soon as we can. Until then, we will make sure to do everything in our power to create accessible pages.

We have assigned the following access keys to assist in navigation. While we realize that they do not work consistently in every browser, they are beneficial to some audiences.
